ABOUT THE NORTHFIELD AREA FIRE AND RESCUE SERVICE (NAFRS)
The Northfield Area Fire and Rescue Service protects a population of 26,000 over 144 square miles covering Northfield, Dundas and all, or part of, seven surrounding townships. It is a paid-on-call volunteer organization and since September 1, 2014 has been managed through a Joint Powers Agreement.
COLLECTION
The Northfield area has had a fire department since the 1870s. The NAFRS has preserved a collection of materials documenting fire department history since then. The collection includes minute books, photographs, portraits of firefighters, scrapbooks, clippings, artifacts (especially patches and uniforms), and more.
